This Weekend: Hess Finale with Meg Foley, Megan Mazarick, and Erin Foreman-Murray

You might've heard that Susan Hess Modern Dance studio is leaving their Sansom Street location after 30 years. For 24 of those, the studio has fostered emerging choreographers in Philadelphia through its Choreographers Project.

Don't worry, though. The studio and its programs will stick around (with new digs TBD), and you can catch the final Sansom Street performances this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 pm, 2009?2010's resident choreographers—Meg Foley, Erin Foreman-Murray, and Megan Mazarick—are a great trio to celebrate the contributions the studio has made to the city's dance community over the past three decades.

From last year's Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, you may have seen Mazarick in Kill Me Now, Foreman-Murray in the INFLUX show at the Mascher Space Cooperative, and Meg Foley's Natural (which she says is a "cousin" to the work you'll see this weekend), as performed below during the 2009 Rocky Awards:

This fall, new work from Meg, Megan, and six other choreographers will premiere at 8 (eight choreographers / eight new works), a Live Arts Festival showcase of major new dances from young Philadelphia choreographers.

The 2009?2010 Choreographers Project at Susan Hess Dance Studio, 2030 Sansom Street. Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23, 8:00 pm, $12.
