In this hilarious and frightening tale - based on an original story by Philadelphia-based actor Tony Lawton - an immortal witch and her hideous golem roam the Russian countryside to wreak havoc on all they encounter. They finally arrive at the small peasant village of Vrinsk 50 years after their last visit to take care of some unfinished business.... Filled with puppets, masks, and music, this work-in-progress uses models, artist's renderings, and prototypes to illustrate the tale of one village banding together to combat a notorious villain. Adapted by and starring Lawton and Aaron Cromie, with Dave Jadico, and Rainey Lacey. Matt Pfieffer directs.

Developed as part of outreach programs within the Caribbean community, this work-in-progress represents the commitment of Tania Isaac Dance Projects to blend forms of modern and Caribbean dance and to foster relationships with community organizations. Using poetry, video, and an array of props, standpipe moves through a culture trying to define itself in an increasingly global community. Creation and development of standpipe is funded by the Painted Bride Art Center Resident Bride Artist Program. standpipe is made possible in part by a grant from Dance Advance, a program funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts and administered by Drexel University.

A collaboration with writer Don Belton on a new work that is a testament to a unique African-American experience. TOUCHED dares to push pain to the surface. No apologies made; no sympathy required. Characterized by stylized and highly visual pieces, the choreography of Leni-Basso involves the interaction of body, images, light, sound, and space. Similarly, Group Motion has been incorporating video and soundscape elements into their work for the past 35 years. Together, the two companies seek a movement vocabulary that comes from interactions with sound and image, rather than cultural context. A look into the process of these respected companies as they begin work on a piece that will culminate in a full-length performance to premiere next fall at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Funding for this commission has been provided by Dance Advance, a program funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts and administered by Drexel University.
